Spring
Spring awakening inspires outdoor activity in the Pocono Mountains. The blooming scenery provides picturesque settings for hiking, biking, bird-watching, boating, picnics, festivals and more. Golf swings into action and warm-weather attractions gear up for summer fun across the region.

Relax in Lackawaxen
Less than 5 miles from Masthope, you'll discover the quaint town of Lackawaxen. Be sure to visit the Zane Grey Museum. Here, you can glimpse into the diverse life and character of one of the early twentieth century's most popular and widely-read western writers. When you're done, walk Roebling's Delaware Aqueduct into New York and learn about the D&H Canal. Finish off your visit near the shores of the Delaware River on the Towpath Trail,or with some bites and drinks at the Lackawaxen Inn.

Visit the Glass Production Town of White Mills
Start your visit with a hike at the Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary. Since 1980, the nearly 600-acre grounds have preserved the natural beauty and wildlife of northeastern Pennsylvania. The Sanctuary is also home to the Dorflinger Glass Museum, a museum dedicated to preserving the magnificent glass made in White Mills from 1852 to 1921. With over 900 pieces of cut, engraved, etched, gilded and enameled crystal, the museum proudly displays the nation’s largest collection of Dorflinger glass. Finish off your day at the Dorflinger Factory Museum, located just down the road. Housed in the factory’s restored 1883 Cutting Shop and ca. 1888 Factory Office, the museum is home to another premier collection of Dorflinger glass. Exhibits explore the history of the company and its visionary leader, Christian Dorflinger, how this remarkable glass was made and decorated, and how it was used in society.

Horseback Riding
Horseback riding is another great way to see the natural wonders of the Pocono region. Whether you ride through woods, streams or meadows, you will get a close-up glimpse of the natural beauty of the Poconos, and you'll probably see some of the native birds and animals too. If you are not up the exercise of a ride, many Poconos riding stables offer hay wagon, carriage and pony rides too. Check out Masthope Stables or Triple W Stables!

Gone Fishing
It's the lure of great fishing in an awe-inspiring setting that brings more fishing enthusiasts back to the Pocono Mountains each year. If you enjoy fishing then you will love casting into the thousands of acres of lakes and hundreds of miles of streams. Some of our favorite local spots include The Upper Delaware, Lake Wallenpaupack, and Westcolang Lake. At the Lake Wallenpaupack Visitors Center, the public can borrow rods, reels and a tackle box full of hooks and other terminal tackle. A PA Fishing License is required to fish in Pennsylvania.
Rail Tours
Welcome to the Pocono Mountains’ first and only railbiking recreational adventure! Railbiking is a unique way to experience the nature and wildlife found on trails and can be easily enjoyed by all. Our custom-made railbikes fit comfortably and perfectly onto the railroad tracks and are easily powered by gentle pedaling. Our scenic route runs along the Lackawaxen River in the charming town of Hawley, PA. We have specifically chosen a route that is 6 miles long and boasts lush views and fascinating history.

Tee off at Woodloch Springs
Woodloch’s spectacular, 18-hole, championship, par-72 golf course winds its way over 6,579 yards of fern-carpeted forest, lush wetlands and broad upland meadows. The outstanding signature 14th hole requires a dramatic 220-yard carry over Hell’s Gate Gorge, which is carved from the rugged mountainside by rushing water some 200 feet below.

Three Hammers Winery, located in Hawley on the historic property known as Whitehall Corners provides an exceptional selection of refreshing, handcrafted, small batch, and classically styled wines. Wallenpaupack Brewing Company is a full production craft brewery. The 10,000 sq ft facility features a 20 bbl brewhouse, tap room, a menu of locally sourced, in-house prepared food, merchandise and growlers.

Discover Milford
When it comes to Pocono Mountains towns, Milford is a must-see. A vibrant destination for arts and entertainment, the town also features the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, the Grey Towers National Historic Site, and the Columns Museum: Home of the famous “Lincoln Flag.” Milford’s creative community ensures there are plenty of treasures to browse in town. Shoppers can expect an assortment of local goods including arts, crafts and artisanal foods. Enjoy lunch at 403 Broad, and finish your afternoon with a neighborhood walking tour.

Summer
Summer sparks endless ways to play in the Pocono Mountains. Lakes, rivers and waterparks welcome swimming and splashing while zip lines and adventure courses fuel high-flying fun for all. Races, concerts and celebrations fill the days as campfires and fireworks light up the nights.

Float or Paddle Down the Upper Delaware
Paddle through rapids and quiet pools as the Delaware River winds its way through a valley of swiftly changing scenery or fish amid rolling hills and riverfront villages in one of the finest fishing rivers in the northeastern United States. The clean water of the Delaware, the last major undammed river in the eastern United States, supports a healthy ecosystem and offers tranquility and excitement. Launch watercraft from Masthope or Ten Mile River and foat down to Lackawaxen. or check out one of the liveries located at various points throughout.

Wander to Waterfalls
Hear the roar of tumbling water, feel the cooling mist on your skin, and bask in the scenic beauty of the Pocono Mountains’ many waterfalls! Wondrous waterfalls can be found at several of the region’s parks, recreation sites and scenic attractions, and most are easy to reach via hiking trails. Our favorite local spots include Dingman's Falls, Raymondskill Falls, and Shohola Falls.

Autumn
In autumn, the Pocono Mountains are ablaze with brilliant fall foliage. Stunning reds, oranges and yellows line the landscape as events and activities celebrate the season.

Take a Hike
Enjoy the autumn foliage on an adventurous hike in the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River Area. The Tusten Mountain Trail is an area favorite. This moderately difficult three mile trail takes you on a loop through historic remains of the Tusten Settlement as you climb to the summit for a magnificent view of the Upper Delaware Valley.

Biking
Bike along the Delaware River, past fields and through forests in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Cycling is a popular form of recreation in the park. The McDade Recreational Trail, a packed gravel path, parallels the Delaware River on the Pennsylvania side of the park for 32 miles and most is perfect for mountain and hybrid bikes. Start at Milford Beach.

Ziplining
Kittatinny's Dual Racing Zipline is one of the largest Big Zips in the US! Drop 36 stories from the top of the mountain. Zip above the treetops, 150 feet in the air while taking in the magnificent bird’s eye view of the Delaware River at up to 60mph. (Located on the New York side of the river.)

Ride the Rails in Honesdale
October is a great time to climb aboard the Stourbridge Line to see the fall colors. Enjoy Twenty five miles of historic railroad winding through Northeastern PA along the Lackawaxen River Valley. Once you return back in Honesdale, be sure to visit the Wayne County Museum to view a scale replica of the Stourbridge Lion.

Explore a Historic Mansion
Grey Towers is the ancestral home of Gifford Pinchot, first chief of the Forest Service and twice Governor of Pennsylvania. Built on nearly 100 acres, the estate is one of the Forest Service's most significant cultural resources. Autumn is a beautiful time to explore the mansion and the gardens.

Eat, Shop & Relax in Hawley
The Silk Mill in Hawley has been a vital part of the community since its construction in 1880. Its many incarnations over the years have included a silk factory with the foremost technology of the day, a textile factory and antique center. Never has it been more vibrant than today. The vision for the re-purposed factory is to have a center that celebrates the lifestyle of the Pocono Lake Region - a place for residents and visitors alike to shop, gather, eat, exercise and learn.

Apple Picking & Autumn Activities
With attractions for the young and refreshing hard cider for the young at heart, there's something for everyone at Lakeland Orchard & Cidery! Stroll through the beautiful Zinnia and Sunflower fields, throw some axes, or collect a bushel of fresh and crisp apples from our high-density trellised trees!
Visiting from New York? On your way to or from Masthope, stop in at Soons. At Soons Orchards, you'll find fresh-picked apples, real apple cider, homegrown and local fruits & vegetables, delicious homemade pies and lots of special goodies... like our own apple cider donuts and homemade fudge. You'll also find a wonderful fall afternoon outing with apple picking and pumpkin picking (mid-Sept. into Oct.), and hay wagon rides to our pumpkin patch.

Winter
In winter, over 185 trails ensure great skiing, snowboarding and tubing while snowy woodlands provide perfect settings for dog sledding, horseback riding, snowmobiling, sleigh rides, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and ice skating.

Ski, Board & Tube at Ski Big Bear
Just up the road is Ski Big Bear, a family friendly mountain that's great for beginners. The mountain is open to the public and Masthope owners in good standing are granted unlimited access to the mountain. Guests recieve discounted lift tickets as well. The mountain offers a 650’ vertical drop, 18 trails and 7 lifts. Big Bear has an expanded terrain park, a snow sports school, and also offers snow tubing.

Watch Eagles Fly
Bald eagles are one of the world’s most beautiful and mysterious creatures, and you have the chance to see them in their natural habitat. The Delaware Highlands Conservancy is a non-profit organization based in Hawley, dedicated to land & wildlife protection and conservation. Usually held in January and February, the eagle-watching tours transport visitors on a heated bus to some of the area’s most popular viewing locations. Trained guides also provide in-depth information and answer any questions you may have throughout the tour.
